
Katherine (Kate) Ellingson is a dedicated epidemiologist with a career rooted in public service and academic leadership. In 2017, Kate joined the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Arizona Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. Her research portfolio encompasses infection prevention and occupational health related works. She is principal investigator of the Arizona Farmworker Enumeration Profiles Study (AZ-FEPS) that utilized systematic methods to establish the number of Arizona farmworkers, including the locations and seasons farmworkers are in the fields, with the aim of improving care and conditions for all Arizona farmworkers. Building off of AZ-FEPS, she is currently leading a research project that aims to estimate crop worker-days of high/extreme heat exposure by crop for three Arizona counties and identify heat risk and resilience factors among Yuma county farmworkers to support multi-level heat interventions.
