SCORCH/MEZCOPH at UAHS Wellness & Wonder

UAHS Wellness and Wonder flyer with 'Connect to STEM'.
On September 20, SCORCH and MEZCOPH community engagement teams joined the Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center, AZ Climate Health, the Exposure Science and Risk Assessment Center, and other health sciences campus partners in the forum of the Health Sciences Innovation Building to engage community members of all ages in fun activities. "Connect 2 STEM" was part of the larger Wellness and Wonder showcase hosted by University of Arizona Health Sciences.
Children and a handful of adults eagerly participated in SCORCH's "spin-the-wheel" trivia game to test their knowledge on sustainability, climate resilience, and the environment. Favorite question categories included microbes, climate facts, heat, air, environmental facts, and water. Asked about the healthiest drink option for staying cool and hydrated on a hot day — a) water, b) soda, c) both — one young participant answered "coconut water" referring to natural offerings from the beach of her native Brazil. No disagreement there.
