Extreme heat is now the deadliest weather-related threat in the U.S., and it’s only getting worse. In 2023 alone, an estimated 2,300 people died from extreme heat — but the true toll is likely far higher. Rising temperatures are making people sicker, worsening chronic conditions, and straining already overwhelmed health systems.

Join APHA and other member organizations of the Alliance for Heat Resilience and Health (AHRH)* for a timely discussion with health leaders and policymakers on how states can lead the way in protecting communities from extreme heat.

*AHRH is a coalition dedicated to responding to the health harms of extreme heat
