NASEM Climate Conversations: D.C. Crossroads (Washington D.C. and Virtual)

This two-day National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) workshop will explore innovative ways AI can enhance climate science and support decision-making for resilience and mitigationd; it will identify critical applications where AI can inform climate action at speed and scale, consider how AI’s broader societal impacts affect approaches for addressing climate change, and provide a forum for cross-sectoral dialogue.

This special event marks the milestone of the National Academies' 50th Climate Conversation. It will feature two discussions bridging the science and climate communication to action landscape. The first panel will focus on best practices in science communication and strategies for fostering healthy information ecosystems, featuring a range of science communicators. For the second panel, environmental leaders from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia will share climate mitigation and resilience efforts they are spearheading in the region.
