Extreme heat is a persistent and deadly public health concern in Maricopa County. Substance use during extreme heat significantly raises the chances of serious health outcomes, including death. In 2024, nearly 60% of heat-related deaths involved substance use in Maricopa County — and among those, 89% involved stimulants.
This webinar hosted by Maricopa County Public Health will explore the combined risks of heat and substance use and share local data. Attendees will learn effective ways to help prevent heat-related harms and improve community safety.
